Awards and Honors

EPYSA Girls Travel Coach of the Year!

Congratulations to Frank Omlor for being awarded the EPYSA Girls Travel Coach of the Year Award!  Frank and the other award recipients will be honored at the EPYSA Banquet in March.

Frank is the coach of the 99 Strikers team that had a very successful year which included the 2013 EPYSA Presidents Cup State Title,  the Region 1 Presidents Cup Title, and a third place finish in the Presidents Cup National Tournament.  The team also won their division in the Eastern Developemnt Program League based out of New Jersey.  In Addition to being a coach Frank is also the President of North Union United Soccer Club.

A letter from Alan Zeigler: Club Founder

I am truly honored and humbled to be able to represent North Union United Soccer Club as the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association’s 2010 Volunteer of Year and the 2010 United States Youth Soccer Association’s Volunteer of the Year for Region 1.  As the 2010 United States Volunteer of the Year for Region 1, I remain under consideration for the 2010 United States Youth Soccer Volunteer of the Year.

On February 24 through Feburary 26, 2011, I will be attending the United States Youth Soccer Workshop in Lexington, Kentucky at the expense of United States Youth Soccer.  On Friday, February 25, 2011, I will receive the Region 1 Award at the 2011 United States Youth Soccer Awards Gala.  The following weekend on Sunday, March 6, 2011, I will be recognized as the 2010 EPYSA Volunteer of the Year during a luncheon at the Radisson Hotel in Valley Forge.

I thank all of you who sent in Volunteer of the Year Nominations and I thank all of the coaches, managers, parents and players who have been associated with North Union United Soccer Club since 1998.  Without the support and hard work of many people, I would not be in a position to be considered for the awards that I will be receiving.  I truly feel that I am receiving the Awards on their behalf.  In addition, the inspiration to serve as a volunteer in North Union United Soccer Club is derived from each and every young lady and man (most importantly, my two sons, Bryn and Luke) that I have had the privilege to coach.  Without their smiles, enthusiasm and passion to inspire me and the opportunity granted to me to teach them to play the World’s most beautiful game and provide them with a place to play the game competitively, I would never be considered for the Awards.  And, most importantly, my wife has loved me, assisted me, provided emotional support and the freedom to give my time to the Club.  Without her assistance and understanding, North Union United Soccer Club would not exist.

For the 2011 United States Youth Soccer Awards Gala, US Youth Soccer has requested photographs and video footage of me as I have been involved in Club activities.  If any of you have photographs and video footage of me, please get these items to me before January 11, 2011.

Please forward this email message to your Players and Families!

Again, my thanks to all of you and Happy New Year!

: Alan

Quotes from the article....

“I love the game of soccer and want to perpetuate that love for the game to players of all ages so that they might grow as confident individuals.” Alan Zeigler

“I first met Alan five years ago when he offered soccer skills training in a gym on Saturdays in the winter to any kids who wished to participate. My twins happened to be six at the time and absolutely loved the training. His training gave the kids an increased passion about soccer that continues today.” We all know of ‘Mother Nature’ and ‘Father Time.’ Central PA has ‘Grand Pa Soccer.’” – Frank Omlor, president, North Union United Soccer Club

“What is most remarkable about Alan and his commitment to the teams is that he doesn’t have to do this. He doesn’t have a child or grandchild playing on a team. He could spend his free time in so many other ways. He genuinely loves the game of soccer and wants to instill that love of the game into the players with whom he comes into contact.” – Courtney Rosevear, team manager and assistant coach for the North Union United ’01 Lady Cannons
