Player Development Academy

WINTER PLAYER DEVELOPMENT ACADEMIES

During the Winter of 2023/2024 there will be two Player Development Academies (Academy I – 4, one hour sessions on Saturday mornings 12/2, 12/9, 12/16 and 1/6 and Academy II – 4, one hour sessions on Saturday mornings 1/13, 1/20, 1/27 and 2/3) at Sports Central PA (4113 White Top Rd, Middleburg).  Both Player Development Academies will be for 2016 and 2017 birthdate players.  The primary objective for the Player Development Academies is to improve the technical skills of the young players attending the Academy sessions and motivate them to continue to practice their technical skills individually.  Individual technical skill training documents will be distributed to parents for their use in assisting their players practice their individual technical skills.  Since it is important for the young players to enjoy playing the game, each Player Development Academy session will end with small sided soccer games.

All Academy sessions will be directed by Alan Zeigler, who formed NUU in 1998 and continues to serve as NUU’s Youth Director of Coaching.  The skill level of all players will be observed by Alan and other NUU Coaches.  Players will be identified for invitation to the player selection Soccerfests, which are scheduled for May of each year.  Alan continues to have the primary responsibility for developing and identifying the U7 and U8 players, which form the Club’s highly competitive U9 and U10 Teams for each soccer year.  During Fall 2023, the Club had seven U9 and U10 Teams that had a combined record of 34 wins, 4 ties, and 17 losses, while winning two League Championships.
